The Taff Trail:Talybont Reservoir

Talybont Reservoir

This location is the dam built across the valley to hold back the water of Talybont Reservoir. It has a road along the top and car parking is available.

Talybont Reservoir to Llanfrynach

Arriving from Torpantau, cross over the dam, then follow the lane through Aber Village and down, taking the left turn to Cross Oaks, then another left to Pencelli.

After the Caravan site, and immediately before the canal, turn left into the narrow lane which runs through to Llanfrynach.

Walker's Route: Talybont Reservoir to Talybont-on-Usk

From Torpantau, do not cross the dam, but follow the unsurfaced path which joins the former Brinore Tramway. There are much more lose stones on the surface which it is not recommended for cyclists. Walkers can follow the Canal Towpath from Talybont-on-Usk to Brynich Lock.
