The Taff Trail: Brecon

Brecon

Brecon is the northern end of the Taff Trail.

Sustrans National Cycle Route No 8 leaves the Taff Trail to continue North through the length of Wales.

The Taff Trail starts in the area near the theatre and the canal basin, a very attractive area. The Tipple ‘n’ Tiffin, the theatre restaurant is most welcome but it is often closed on days when there are lots of visitors around.

The Trail sets out from the Theatre, then going along a road parallel to the canal for approximately 1 km before joining the canal.

Except for this section, the Monmouth and Brecon Canal prohibits cycling on the towpath since most of it is rather narrow (especially by the bridges) and a large number of cyclists along with walkers and fishermen will cause a hazard to all. On the way out of Brecon, however the towpath has been widened to double width to allow cycling.

National Cycle Network Route 8

Brecon is the Northern end of the Taff Trail. NCN Route 8 does however continue right through the heart of Wales. Find out more from the Sustrans website.
